"I just finished my top.  It is made of cotton/ linen Essex cloth, and has your wonderful butterfly A on a pocket panel made of cross stitch fabric, lined with Hilk, (hemp warp/ silk weft).  That made a pocket just large enough to hold my crochet thread and hook. I edged the pocket panel in ribbon.  Then I put a band on the bottom of the shirt made of that same cross stitch cloth, which has rayon threads in one direction, so it's nice and shiny.  On that band, I did a line of drawn thread work, using DMC pearl cotton, size #8, to make it cooler.

Then, since I still had some waiting time, I inserted a small square doily in the back, and made a simple crochet edge.

I don't know what that rayon fabric/ cotton is actually for.  I got it when Ben Franklin closed out.   I think it may be Hardanger fabric.  It's as regular in weave as Aida, but soft textured."
