Please allow extra time for page to load - lots of pictures!

We had such a hard time putting up the blinds for the top windows in my new room!  What a nightmare they were!  But as you can see, they look great.  Yes, they open and close.

The blind installation is complete!
This is the view to the West.  The sun really comes in here for a few hours a day - especially in the Summer.  I needed to have the blinds up on the top windows too.

I had a lot of folks who sent me suggestions on how I could make the blinds for the top windows.  This is what I decided to make.  These were purchased from the same company as the rest of the blinds in my room and we customized them to work for the trapezoid-shaped windows.  The cords for raising and lowering the blinds go through the wall and down through "tunnels" so that I can reach them.  You can't see them but the cleats for the cords are behind the floral arrangement.  OK, so I am not good at floral arrangements but I like it anyway.

Please don't ask me how we did these blinds!  My first recommendation would be to never attempt this.  It took us so long and it was so difficult that I would not have anyone go through that.  We are probably going out to dinner to celebrate their completion in a couple of weeks from now.  It took several weeks of work to complete them.

For those who want to see some more of the details, below are a few shots of what happened.

Here is Bob up on the top of the bridge.  It is not enough support so he had to put up 2 very large and wide planks so that they would support him.  You can sort of see the ugly ladder we have too.
We used some tubes for the cords.  This ended up being part of the nightmare.  The spring on the left got stuck up inside the wall and we couldn't get it out easily.  One of them is still up there.  I think the one on the right.  The tubes work fine though - now.
Someone else was busy while we were working on the blinds!  The Robins were very hungry.  This is right outside the top windows.
Another shot of Bob - working on the left blind this time.
This is the old and UGLY ladder that was in my office/sewing room for many weeks.  It is even uglier in person!  Notice the nice "boots" it has to protect the wood floor.  Since the walls are 9 feet tall and the top of the ceiling is 12 feet, we needed to have a ladder that is much taller than a "normal" ladder.  This one works but it sure is awful looking.  Glad it isn't in here any more!

By the way, we did get rid of this ugly and unsafe ladder.  Now we have a much better one that is safe to climb.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my pictures.  Murphy
