Graphic intensive!  Allow extra time to load.

I was really into costume making when I was in high school, and have gotten back into it lately with my two kids.  I made my son a really cool costume for Halloween based on a cartoon character that he likes.  It was quite a complicated thing, and I had to make it from scratch, down to making my own pattern.  We also go to science fiction conventions, and I entered Elias and his costume in the Costume contest, where we
competed against 15 other adults and their costumes, and we got an award for the "best workmanship"!

Front costume - Homemade bias binding, miles of satin stitching, and appliqués, oh my!  And those sleeves!

Back costume - and another appliqué on the back...I watched a LOT of
the cartoons to find out what that was!  I knew there was something there!

Sword Stance - Li Shoran, cartoon character from "Card Captors".  Elias in action.  He can't help it in this costume!

Elias of Gryffindor - With his robe and house logo showing.

Showing off his wand - This is my son, Elias, showing off his uniform and that I sewed a pocket to the seam of his robe so that he could carry the wand I made him.

Murphy asks, "Harry Potter, is that you?  Did you change your hair color?  I like it if you did."

Gryffindor uniform 2 - In his uniform.  Other than the hair color, he does kind of look like Harry ---especially the wild hair!

Kalyn of Ravenclaw - Shows the ironed on logo.

Kalyn was Penelope Clearwater, an older Ravenclaw girl who was a prefect, and Percy Weasley's girlfriend.  She gets turned stiff, along with Hermione, in book 2, by the basilisk.

Ravenclaw costume - This is my daughter, Kalyn, showing off her uniform.  My first, and hopefully last, attempt at a pleated skirt!

Li Shoran - All dressed up, ready for A Science Fiction Convention Masquerade.  We won "Best Workmanship"!

Cool!  These are really wonderful!  Great job, Jackie!
